| Calypso solves the problem with misfired commands.
Got a customer that can't quite get their heads around the fact that the Universal Remote Control must remain pointing at the devices to be controlled, so it can finish sending all its Macro commands? You know the problem, they're used to the TV remote which only sends out a single TV command, nice and fast. But when you start getting into Macro's on Universal Remote Controls, the IR commands get really long and the remote must remain pointed at the devices to ensure they get all the commands. This can take up to 5 seconds!! Well, help is at hand. Use a Calypso LT controller to send your Macro's out its IR ports. With IR Emitters stuck to the front of each device communication is assured. This way the Remote Control only sends out ONE (1) command to trigger the Calypso's Event Database and it does the rest, sending out the required commands to the required devices. You can even use an IR DA (distribution Amp) to split the signal if more devices are needed.

Factory resetting Pro I/O and Ion-e units Early revisions: (pre 1.7) Power down the ION-e or Pro I/O (1.5.0). Short the tip/ring of a 3.5mm jack plug and insert it into IR port #1. Power up the controller and establish a browser connection. Remove the shorted plug that was inserted into IR input #1. Personality configurations will be reset but the database will not be altered !
Latest revisions: (post 1.7) Power down the unit Jumper TX/RX on COM1, power on, then remove the jumper within 4 seconds. That will reset to the default. On the LT and LT2 you will hear three quick beeps to confirm that it has been reset. |

Denon amplifiers not responding to Calypso control - Try moving the IR emitter away from the receiver by about 200mm. Apparently the IR receivers on the Denon gear can get saturated if it receives too strong an IR signal and will stop functioning. This is something to take note of as it might effect other manufacturers as well. |

After much trial and error, where even the projector was shipped to IDT and shown to be able to be controlled nicely, the problem came down to the IR emitters being used. Although the same emitters are used on the TV's they would not operate the Projectors. Installing some Emitters sourced from IDT solved the problem. |

IDT service only Updates to CB-1000 ======= update for currently shipping Rev2 hardware =========
Calypso have replaced the "cloning" capability with a new ability to save and restore to file, which is a fantastic improvement. Now users can create a configuration, test that it's fully functional and then save it to their PC. This sounds like a basic capability but it was missing until now. Whoo hoo. Another enhancement is the addition of Event #13, an Alarm event, that is serial only. This Alarm event can be setup to trip off the keypad or time. This product is now a true "Joey killer". Not the Newcastle kind either ! Only downside - factory upgrade only and it uses a new version of the config utility.

| CB-1000 Shipping now support 4 x IR buds although the silk screening hasn't caught up to engineering.
The 3-pin phoenix connector now supports TWO IR drivers. Pin 3 is common (silk screened as "-", Pin 2(silk screened as "NC" is a driver (supporting 2 buds) and Pin 1(silk screened as "+) is a driver (supporting 2 buds) as well. CB's in the future will have the "NC" removed and IR+ will be there instead. The CB still will not allow the mixing of emitter buds and hard-wired connections! Otherwise the new features include Serial output, Scripting (replaces cloning), alarms and daylight saving. |
| Something to be very aware of !!
Microsoft ActiveSync when loaded onto a PC/laptop can take over ALL available com ports which then makes using Encore of the Config utilities for CA and CB's impossible.
|
| New Daylight Saving table is now available for 2008 Daylight saving in Australia. Available for the CB-5000 & LT2 units. Download a copy, unzip & upload to unit.

| Place CA-xxxx into MUTE, this disables the Class ‘D’ amp., and means we are running low power. Inherently if a class ‘D’ amp is not driving power to a speaker, its low power. power consumption in mute: ~ 12vdc @ .1a = 1.2watts |
| CB-5000 Firmware Feb 09
Please note Calypso have updated the firmware on the CB-5000's that we are currently distributing to V2.0.0-35-65 and as a result they have also supplied a new revision CB5000 Config utility - V2.00 on the included CDROM.
Of course the old config utility is NOT compatible with new firmware

The Smart Block uses CIRT command triggers from a CB-1000, CB-5000 or other controller to control relay functions OR to switch +12 on and off (think screen trigger etc.). The commands are Universal equivalents of the following CIRTS: There is a three step process to enable the IR processing: Step 1) To enable the IR functionality you'll need to put the unit into "Program Mode" by shorting the (COM2)TX and RX pins while applying power (just like an ION-LT2), you'll see the LED inside the unit begin to flash. |
|
The Vertical-Sync detect function is available, on the CB-5000--by selection--on any one of serial ports 2, 3 or 4. The setting for which port is the one currently used for v-sync is under the "Serial Ports" web page for the CB-5000. Just like the Ion LT2, you'll want to use the RX line and the GND line, for the specific port selected. |
|
Often it is only necessary to use two wires between a CB-1000 and a display or projector as NO return data is processed by the CB. Just use Tx and Gnd. NOTE: this can sometimes even improve communication as it's been known that some devices send back characters that foul the CB-1000 |
